First registered and owned by Mrs. Esme M. Becker, 24 Cheltenham Road, Cheltenham. Prior to the introduction of Australian Compliance plates, no body identification plate was fitted. Mercedes Benz production records show that chassis no 5620 was manufactured on 3/10/68 and chassis no 6619 on 28/11/68. Thus this car, chassis no 6554 would have been built in 11/68. An alloy plate with chassis, engine numbers plus other manufacturing codes which also gives information about weights, is screwed to the engine firewall. Another plate with chassis number is affixed inside engine bay on the top of the left guard. David Beer of 138 Hudson Parade, Clareville. NSW 2105 is shown as the second owner from about May 1990 with a mileage of around 47515 miles. This is authenticated by the service manual records and receipts. Registration plate was DB 728. During his period of ownership the engine was replaced on 11 February 2002 by Mortdale Auto Spares Pty Ltd, a well known Sydney specialist of MB SL's, 46-48 Claremont Avenue, Greenacre. NSW 2190 at a cost of $12,900 . Mileage on original engine is shown as 48239 on receipt. New , totally rebuilt engine was rebuilt to original 113 specifications and has engine no 130.980.22.007599 as confirmed by John Mortdale to me prior to my purchasing car. Tim Crosland from Perth WA was the third owner of the car from 31 March 2002, Registration Number CNY 317. He bought the car from Mortdale Motors who were acting on behalf of the seller. David Beer. I bought the car from Tim Crosland, 26 Chatsworth Terrace, Claremont WA 6010 on 16 February 2006 with mileage of 57770 miles. Comprehensive receipts and service book confirm above facts and car had only been driven for some 9000 miles with the new engine.
